Tyler Together Race Relations Forum is honored to sponsor Tyler’s 2020 Community-Wide Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, January 20, 2020.

Main Celebration Plans

Our Celebration begins at the Tyler Downtown Square at 9 a.m. followed by a Parade at 9:30 am down South Broadway to the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception (Broadway and Front St.)  At the Cathedral, our formal program begins at 10 a.m.

Our 2020 Theme: “Only In THE DARKNESS Can You See The STARS”

Dr. King used this phrase on numerous occasions but the most Famous was during his last speech (Commonly referred to “I’ve Been to the Mountain Top”

Sha’Rell Webb, Founder of “Coding With A Twist”

ShaRell Webb, Founder of Coding With A Twist

Mrs. Sha’Rell Webb is the First African-American to be named an Education Specialist for the Lunar and Planetary Institute. In this role she works with various scientists who conduct Planetary Science Research and Space Sciences.

Sha’Rell Personal Motto is:On Fire To Inspire”

With a strong personal conviction that youth can do “Amazing Things” with the proper encouragement and guidance, Mrs. Webb founded “Coding With A Twist”.

“Coding with a Twist” introduces underestimated students to the world of Computer Science, Coding, and Robotics. Throughtout the year, Sha’Rell facilitates after-school programs, Saturday pop-up workshops and professional developments.  Learn more about “Coding With A Twist” at http://onfire2inspire.weebly.com

Sha’Rell  also serves as a board member of “Black Girls Do Engineer” Corporation, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to increase the presence of Black-American women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related fields by providing experience-based knowledge, career path insight, and mentor-ship to young girls, beginning from ages 9 to 21.

Professional History:

Sha’Rell  has worked with Code.org as a Computer Science Discoveries Educator, NASA as a Professional Development Educator and a Network of States Train-the-Trainer and a Teacher Extern for the University of Texas TEX2 Program.

Sha’Rell has also been previously honored as Houston ISD Secondary Fan Favorite Teacher of the Year, Houston Area Alliance Teacher of the Year and Houston ISD Teacher of the Month.

Personal :

Sha’Rell is a 2012 Graduate of Jarvis Christian College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and is currently pursusing a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in STEM at University of Houston.

Sha’Rell is the wife of Tyler-native, Chester Webb, together they are the proud parents of four beautiful children.
